Push for environmental awareness highlights Lito De Veterbo’s completion of Philippine traverse on foot via GP3

GIST: Lito De Veterbo, also known as Mister LNT in Philippine outdoor community, completes 100% of GPS-documented traverse of the Philippines on foot.

HIGHLIGHT: Advocacy to promote outdoor ethics and environmental awareness

1. Applied and demonstrated low-impact, low-waste practices during the whole journey, emphasizing how they apply to both the outdoors and daily life.
2. Did not buy nor consume bottled water, relying on his BYO reusable container to fetch water from hotels, and refilling at restaurants, eatery / karinderia along the way.
3. Conducted Leave No Trace workshops along the way at specific locations, educating individuals on how to minimize harm to the environment while enjoying the outdoors. Leave No Trace is a set of guidelines on how to minimize our impacts to the environment, allowing us to protect and enjoy the outdoors responsibly.

ACHIEVEMENTS:

1. COMPLETION OF THE JOURNEY WITHOUT BUYING or consuming bottled water, relying mainly on his BYO reusable water container to refill at hotels, restaurants, eatery / karinderia along the way.
2. FIRST PERSON TO TRAVERSE the Philippines on foot point-to-point from Maira-ira Point, Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte (the northernmost point of Luzon island) to Tinaca Point, Batulaki, Glan, Sarangani Province (the southernmost point of Mindanao island)
   
3. COMPLETION OF AN ATTEMPT to set a Guinness record for crossing the Philippines on foot (pending validation by Guinness)
   
4. ESTABLISHMENT OF GP3: The Great Philippine P2P (Point-to-point), which is defined as a linear one-way point-to-point traverse of the Philippines connecting Maira-ira Point in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte (the northernmost point of Luzon island) and Tinaca Point in Glan, Sarangani (the southernmost point of Mindanao island). Challengers can carve their own route starting from any of the two points. No checkpoints, no passport required. Just connect the two points utilizing low-impact, low-waste practices. Use of motorized vehicle is discouraged.
